M'sia Trip (Genting & KL: 26-30 Dec 2006)
What a bummer before the trip....i think i caught something from Ah Ga. Throat didn't feel so good, so I visited the good doctor on Christmas eve. Meds made me really drowsy. I was determined to play & shop to my heart's content, so I decided not to take the meds with me. Ram & I met up with Gavin & WJ at about 6.30am. We were supposed to catch the 730am Five Star coach @ Boon Lay Shopping Centre. WJ was hoarding lots of tissue papers. I suspeected he was down with the flu...
When we finally managed to board the bus (after being caught in the rain, lost within the complex trying to find the Five Star shop...), I think we were all pleasantly surprised at the comfort of the coach. It was literally a 5 star rated coach for bus travel! Other than lacking in amenities like in-house toilet & pantry, it was great! The seat was 3/4 reclinable with massaging capabilities, & it came with individual built-in TV screen for movies & gaming for kids. It was like SQ on land...
Ram slept throughout the ride, waking only at Yongpeng for his Ramly burger. I find the journey too long, though. We left Singapore at around 8plus. When we finally reached Genting & checked in, it was already around 4plus.
Genting (26-28 Dec)
Ram was not well during the 2 days @ Genting. LS-ed (aka diarrhea), had fever at night & was coughing away. I suspected he caught it from me, while I got it from Ah Ga. I didn't really enjoyed myself @ Genting. Found that food & stuff was pretty pricey, & I wasn't feeling well to fully enjoy myself. 1 bloody bowl of wanton mee costs RM12-15, a fastfood meal can cost between RM12-20, after tax. I think the only highlight for me during the trip was that I got to spend some time with my good friend El. She was on hols there with her son & family & we met for dinner for a couple of hours. I had a really good time.
Day Two...
Ram decided to sleep in after breakfast (hainan coffe & toast costs RM7-8 after tax. I think Ya Kun is cheaper. comes with 2 eggs somemore) & the 3 of us went to the Theme Park. It was really foggy to start with, & the weather was great for sleep-in, but not outdoor...Entrance fee was RM37 for whole day, & I think I only took 4 rides in total. It was so crowded, the queue was ridiculous. We queued for over 1 hour to take the Go Kart, & the ride lasted for 4 minutes. I took the 'Toboggan' without the guys (there was a weight limit of 70kg & both guys were hauled off). Waited for almost an hour, & the ride lasted barely 2 minutes! sigh....Ram declared he was well enough to join us at about 4plus. While waiting for me to finish my 'Toboggan', the 3 guys went to take the 'swinging thing'. WJ & Gavin took the 'swinging thing' for like 3-4 times that day. They're trying to squeeze in every cents worth...Gavin's eyes shone everytime he looked at the 'Cork Screw'. For me, I will never venture beyond a 'Viking ride'. But 3 times he wanted to take the roller coaster, 3 times it didn't happen for him. Either the weather was too foggy & the ride was closed for maintenaince, it rained, or the queue was just ridiculously long. We could tell he was visibly disappointed at not having a go with his 'cork screw', so Ram, WJ & I decided to take the ride with him later in the evening. Guess what....it rained the moment we entered the Theme Park & was queing at the roller coaster area! He just wasn't fated to take the ride la....we ended up taking the 'tea cup thing', simply because WY insisted El said it was for adults. Ram & I took 1 teacup, while WJ & Gavin took another. I started getting dizzy just by looking at WY & Gavin spinning the teacup.....vomit....
We took the cable car today! Woke up fairly early for the cable car ride. We're leaving for KL today, so I finished my packing last night. I heard that the cable car ride was the longest in Asia (3km) & it was really, really, really high up there. It was too early in the morning & wasn't too crowded. I have nothing much to say here, except that I hung on for dear life while Ram & Gavin were snapping away with their cameras.
KL (28-30 Dec)
KL (28-30 Dec)
Finally, we left for KL! When we reached Times Square around 2plus, there was a long queue at the recept counter. Apparently the entire hotel was fully booked out. When it was our turn, the front desk politely told us that there are not more deluxe rooms available for us, & they will be upgrading us to a suite....I couldn't believe our luck. The suite per night costs RM1,600 & we're getting the upgrade complimentary! Things are starting to really look better....we couldn't check in yet as the rooms are not ready. so we took a cab to Mid Valley Shopping Centre!
We decided to split up & met back after 1 hour. I didn't want to bore the guys by dragging them into boutiques with me. Also, since I only get 1 hour, i think they will slow me down haha...bought a skirt from Naf Naf at 70% off, & a top at Zara for 50% off. The guys came back empty handed. We left Mid Valley & went back to Times Square. Checked in, & I got the pleasantest surprise. The suite was GREAT! The entire place was divided into 4 parts; the kitchen pantry, the living room with a laying couch, TV & dvd player, the bed room, & finally the restroom. I must make speacial mention of the restroom. It was divided into 2 rooms; the peeing room & the bathtub room. Peeing room came with 2 bowls; the regular bowl you see in regular toilets, & a 'washing bowl' after you finished your business. The bathtub room also had a shower room. WOW!
We went to buy tickets for a midnight show (Nite @ the Museum), Gavin bought 4 t-shirts from Diesel, Ram got his cough syrup, & I'm not sure if WJ bought anything...we walked to Jalan Ah Lor for makan & jalan. When we reach the night makan market, the whole place was jam packed with people! We got a seat somewhere & ordered our food. We had stingray, fried hokkien mee, fried rice (Gavin & I had wanton mee), honey lemon chicken, sambal kangkong, & my personal fav~ charcoal bbq chicken wings! Dinner costs around RM60....so much cheaper than in Genting! shiok....after the yummilicious dinner, we took a slow walk along Bukit Bintang street & back to the hotel. had some time before the movie, so we all went back for a shower. Movie's great, by the way...slapstick humor (ben stiller, owen wilson, robin williams) & family entertainment.
Day Four
Had breakfast @ the Hotel's Big Apple. Set off for KLCC after a good shower.
As usual, I requested for split up cos I didn't wanna bore the guys. We get about 2 hours before we meet back for lunch. I got a pair of 'gai-gai' sandals, & that's all I bought :( wasn't hungry at all, so only Ram had a 'light lunch' whilst WJ had his coconut. Determined to comb the entire KLCC, we jalan the whole place & adjourned back to the hotel.

Left for Bukit Bintang for more shopping before dinner. Bought a Diesel t-shirt & a pair of jeans for my bro. Ram bought a pair of jeans, while Gavin splurged on a pair of jeans, a pair of cargo bers, a crocs pants & more t-shirts. WJ ended up with a pair of pants from Isetan @ Lot 10. I was really disappointed with myself, when WY suddenly spotted a small bazaar by Isetan @ Lot 10. Shoes, clothes & bags up to 80% discount. I requested that they abandoned me with the sea of people @ the bazaar, so that I can buy with a vengeance. Didn't want them to see the ugly side of me la haha. I ended up buying a Balenciaga bag (original price is $800 & i ended up paying only $100++!) It was really worth it, although I was in the queue for more than 30 minutes...
We finally adjourned for dinner at Jalan Ah Lor (again) & this time, the food was so lousy, we were bitching away even after we left so long ago. Actually, Gavin & I did most of the bitching...It was drizzling, so we waltzed back to the hotel. WJ & Gavin came down with flu & sore throat. They took Ram's amazing cough syrup & went to bed....
Final Day....Going Home!
Final Day....Going Home!
Had breakfast at the hotel before we checked out. We spent our final hours @ KL shopping within Time Square. We had 4 complimentary amusement passes, so we went lor.....Gavin didnt give up hope on his roller coster ride....this time, Ram, WJ & I got the cold feet. Not feeling well la, so cannot blame us. But we didnt wanna disappoint Gavin, so Ram suggested we take a 'warm up ride' before the roller coster. Guess what....big mistake....The 'DNA Mixer' twists & turns you upside down, & by the time we were done with 2 rides, WJ was down with a rib sprain, Ram's tummy was churning, & I wanted to vomit.....the 3 men went for their bumper car ride before Gavin took the roller ride himself.
We had chick rice (quite nice, but rice is too fatty), walked around for another hour more before we move back on to Spore....
I think the person who bought the most stuff is Gavin. sigh....to think I actually lose out to him....Overall, the trip was fun. If only all of us didnt catch the bug, I think we'll have a really great time. I discovered that Gavin was the thrill-seeker (he practically lives for the ride) & WJ can really, really eat. He gives new meaning to the word "rubbin bin" haha. I mean, of the 3 guys, he's the leanest & thinnest. & he ate the most, swiping up the food that we're unable to finish. In a word, he eat like a horse. But he's got good metabolism.....girls will envy his body....Poor Ram was too sick to enjoy himself, but despite his coughing bug, he took the greatest photos! All shots shown in this post are taken by Ram (with the exception of the ones he's in, & the one with me & El).
Guys, it's been fun. Til the next time....
